Jan-13 Feast of the Lord's Baptism

Hanafusa Chief priest Mass preaching St.Igunatius Catholic Church

Luke 3:15.16.21.22   People's hopes began to rise, and they began to wonder whether John perhaps might be the Messiah. So John said to all of them, "I baptize you with water, but someone is coming who is much greater than I am. I am not good enough even to untie his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. After all the people had been baptized, Jesus also was baptized. While he was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit came down upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, "You are my own dear Son. I am pleased with you."十

Today I will ask you a question. Have the children sitting in front of me think, who is Jesus' father? Joseph, God. There were two answers. If you say which is the real father of Jesus, It was not Joseph. Joseph was not real father, because their blood was not connected. Actually father was living together, but in reality Jesus' true father is God. To the end of today's Gospel, God said to Jesus. Because the heaven opened and God the Father said to Jesus, "You are my own dear Son. " it is a solid sign that God is Jesus' father. By being baptized, Jesus realized that God is his true father by listening to the voice of God who is your father. Therefore, Jesus is to start working as a child of God after this. I hope you all recall it a bit. Both the children sitting in front and the adults sitting behind think that there are many people who have been baptized. Everyone who gets baptized has two fathers. My dad and that God is your father. Let's remember that. And if God is your father, we are all children of God, today's theme, but that we are all God 's family. I want to recall it. Many children will be cherished from their own father mother. Just like that, each of us is God the Father, It is a god that God loves everyone carefully and every one of you. In ordinary words, I think that it is a favorite child. We want to recall it. So we, all of us, God is your father, so they are brothers and sisters. Let's not forget it. So people who have brothers will be told by your father not to fight brothers and sisters. If brothers and fights fight, your father will generally be careful. So you also need to prevent brothers and fights. We would like to try to keep everyone living as a family, like all of us are brothers, not brothers and fights, and being children of God.
There is a dispatch ceremony for World Youth Day after today 's masses. And I felt strongly that everyone was a brother of a child of God when I joined the World Youth Day. If everyone is around 20 years old and has the opportunity, I think that it would be nice if you could join us. I participated in the 2000 Roman. After that I went once more though. At that time I was an adult and a priest, but I joined as one of the leaders. At the outskirts of Rome, there were two masses and there was a mass at the end. When saying how many people are 2 million people, since Kobe which I am from is about 1 million people, more people than Kobe City population gathered in one place and dedicated mass. It's a tremendous big field, everyone came in the house to come over the night before. Because we cannot move on the day. There is a prayer in the evening, everyone goes on campus on the spot and there is a mass the next morning. The Japanese group was sitting on the back. Since the Father, since I had the seat at the front, I went walking, but it took me half an hour to walk there. From the back of this church to the altar it will be around 10 seconds. Because it is 2 million people, it took 30 minutes to get the most from the back seat. Once the size was calculated, if the group where the Japanese were is Yotsuya here, the altar is about Shinjuku Gyoen. It's just about time you walk from here. There is no choice but to walk, and there are all 2 million young people there. Naturally there is no altar visible from there, and there are lots of large public viewing monitors, but it can only see the size of rice grains And the last time I went, there were only 6000 fathers alone. Although the seat of the Father is the front, the altar where Papa was from there also seemed to be about the size of rice grain as well. It is big anyway, but young people gathered there, and everyone is a child of God. People who have God as their father gathered together, but both men, women, people of any nation, various people were there. There would have been around 50 countries. With no distinction, everyone kept it in one mass. I truly think that all of them are children of God. At that time the Pope was John Paul II. It was a language genius. So the mass started from about 9 o'clock and it was about 12 o'clock when it was over, it was about 3 hours of mass. At the very end the Pope greeted me, but it took about 15 minutes to say hello in words from all the countries In other words, there were people in many countries, and everyone was a family. It was a special experience of God's grace for me. Two million people are involved in one mass, and everyone is a child of God. Without any distinction, all the words speaking were completely different, but I greeted peace and was one. A lot of us are gathered here, but that means we are a family. Let's give it a mind. Unfortunately, there are discrimination and discrimination in this world. There are times when people discriminate by people in the country. Perhaps among everyone's school there may be bullying. We must overcome such discrimination and discrimination. One of the young people who was scheduled to be sent to this World Youth Day from this church did not have Japanese nationality, so he needed a different visa. And unfortunately he did not have a visa, so he can not participate. Unfortunately we have distinction and discrimination, so there are things that we can not be united by that kind of thing. We must also admit that there is such a reality.           I belong to the Jesuit Society, but the Japanese provincial dean is the same Argentine as the current Papa. he came to Japan but he do not have Japanese citizenship. Because there is an international symposium in Canada, the provincial district was called as a speaker, but the The Canadian government did not issue visas to him. So he could not participate as a panelist in the Canadian symposium. It is the story of last autumn. So there are still plenty of things that are still discriminated against nationality obviously. I can not believe it, but we can go anywhere in the Japanese passport, but we must also remember that there are actually many people who can not go because of the relationship between the country and the country. But even if there is such a thing, we must be equal as a child of God, we must live in such a way that there is no discrimination between each other or bullying. While thinking about such things, remember that we are all children of God, let us pray together in today's masses +

First reading     Isaiau  40:1-5.9-11

Comfort my people," says our God. "Comfort them! Encourage the people of Jerusalem. Tell them they have suffered long enough and their sins are now forgiven.I have punished them in full for all their sins." A voice cries out, "Prepare in the wilderness a road for the Lord! Clear the way in the desert for our God! Fill every valley;level every mountain. The hills will become a plain, and the rough country will be made smooth.
Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it. The Lord himself has promised this."

Second reading Titus 2:11-14.3:4-7

For God has revealed his grace for the salvation of all people. That grace instructs us to give up ungodly living and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this world, as we wait for the blessed Day we hope for, when the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ will appear. He gave himself for us, to rescue us from all wickedness and to make us a pure people who belong to him alone and are eager to do good. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior was revealed, he saved us. It was not because of any good deeds that we ourselves had done, but because of his own mercy that he saved us, through the Holy Spirit, who gives us new birth and new life by washing us. God poured out the Holy Spirit abundantly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that by his grace we might be put right with God and come into possession of the eternal life we hope for十
